“Having received trigger point therapy and found it extremely useful, as a massage therapist myself, I wanted to learn more. I was not disappointed. What a great visual and informative book. It did not baffle me with too much anatomical information but told me just enough. Anyone without my training could pick up this book and learn a lot from it.”

Overview
The Concise Book of Trigger Points has been written for the student and early practitioner of massage / bodywork, physical therapy, physiotherapy, osteopathy, sports therapy, and any other health-related field. Containing full-colour illustrations, it is a compact reference guide, and explains how to treat chronic pain through trigger points - tender, painful nodules that form in muscle fibres and connective tissues. The first four chapters provide a sound background to the physiology of trigger points, and the general methods of treatment. The following six chapters are organized by muscle groups; each two-page spread features detailed colour illustrations of each major skeletal muscle, and straightforward text identifying each muscle's origin, insertion, action, and function. In addition, the author discusses the physiological implications of the trigger points in each muscle, and techniques for treatment. A new self-help section at the end of the book, covers ten common conditions, with advice for each.

“This really is the best book on the subject of trigger point therapy. Clear and concise diagrams of pain referral patterns make locating the culprit muscle and dealing with the problem so much easier. The author also details other possible causes of pain and suggests consideration of alternative therapy avenues to try. This is simply a ‘must have’ book for any serious remedial or sports massage therapist.”
