Acupuncture Books
Acupoints are specific points throughout the body, positioned on various meridian lines that act as the body's energy gateway. These points, as mapped out in Traditional Chinese Medicine, can be manipulated, through acupressure, acupunture or moxibustion, enabling the practitioner to prevent illness and disease within the body, or increase energy levels.
The first book released by Lotus Publishing covering acupoints was Chris Jarmey and Ilaira Bouratinos' A Practical Guide to Acupoints, which was first released in 2008. The book covers such topics as: needling considerations, manual technique considerations, moxibustion considerations, cupping considerations, deqi, classification of points, principles of point selection, cun measurements and cautions and contradindications. The book then further breaks down to cover all of the acupoints of the individual meridian lines (from the lung channel, to the liver channel to the stomach channel).
John R. Cross' The Concise Book of Acupoints was released in 2010 and offers the reader a host of introductory information (such as what is an acupoint? and modern concepts) before numerous chapters, which are broken down by meridian lines, breakdown into specific acupoints (location, needling information, moxa and pressure, indications and special properties).
